About

The Amazigh Wiki is a free and collaborative encyclopedia centered around the Imazighen, their history, culture, languages, and civilizations. Anyone with an account may contribute. It was founded in November 2024.

Our mission: To build the most complete, accurate, and well sourced reference on the Amazigh people in existence. The Imazighen are the indigenous people of North Africa, one of the oldest continuous civilizations on earth, and among the most underrepresented in global knowledge infrastructure. This wiki is a long-term project to change that.

Our goal is to serve as a stable, independent knowledge repository for Amazigh history, identity, language, and culture accessible to researchers, students, educators, and communities across North Africa and the diaspora. We aim to become a resource integrated into North African education and used as a credible academic and civic reference.

We maintain rigorous sourcing standards and draw from our Archive.org library of over 700 books and primary sources. Contributions are open to all registered users.

History: The project was initially created to solve a problem all Amazigh Wikipedians face. The Amazigh related pages of Wikipedia keep on being vandalized by people with bad intent who try to erase the Amazigh people, its history and its culture, often using poor sources or no source at all. The goal of our Wiki is to, by writing the most complete and best sourced articles, become the most reliable source about the Amazigh people.

Other projects: https://dictionary.amazigh.com – A web dictionary translating and describing words from all Amazigh languages into English.

Forum is our community forum linking contributors and readers of this project.

https://archive.org/details/amazigh-archive – Our Archive.org library of over 700 books, documents, and media available as sources for wiki articles.
